Stony Creek Recap - The kickoff event for the 2006 Winter Trail Running Series went off very fast! With a revised course from 2005 and beautiful running conditions, runners blazed through the rough trails at Stony Creek Metro Park. The course came out to be a bit under 5 miles in length. Ryan DeCook mastered the two loop course in a time of 34:35. On the female side, Deanna Skelcy took top honors in a time of 46:00. Thanks to all that came out to brave the cold!
Pinckney Recap - The second race in the series proved to be a cakewalk as far as the trail conditions go, but bitter cold made it a wintery experience non the less. The tough 5 mile Crooked Lake Loop at Pinckney was pretty much free of snow, ice, and mud. However, with a race start temperature of 9 degrees not counting the wind chill, only the hardiest soles made out to challenge the elements. Josh McCreedy took first overall with a time 30:22 on the course that is presummed to be a little less then marked 5.1 miles. For females, Nancy Carbajo bested the course in 39:05. Thanks to all who came out for a great run and to support a great cause!
Island Lake Recap - The third race of the series could not have been on a more beautiful day. The sun was out and although it was a little chilly, you could tell spring was coming soon. The approximately 6 mile loop at Island Lake is relatively flat compared with the other two courses. This along with the conditions made for some fast times. Ryan Bissel took first overall in a blazing time of 35:05. For the women, Alexandra Mertens won in a time of 47:27. Thanks once again to all that came out to participate! We will let you know the finally tally on how much money we raised for the Special Olympics shortly.
