Divisions: 4 Person Coed (premier division), 2 Person Open (coed, male or female) and Solo
Who: Intermediate to Advanced
Racer Check-In: 5:00-8:00pm Friday, September 7th
Race Briefing: 9:00pm Friday
Race Start: 8:00am Saturday
Race Cutoff: 12:00pm Sunday
Post Race Banquet with Prizes & Giveaways: 1:00pm Sunday
Event Cost:
Per Team Racer - $200; Solo Racers will pay $230 (The extra $30 can either paid with the mail in check or at the race if online payment is used) - The cost includes race swag, canoes, pre & post-race food, and some very nice prizes that will go to the top finishers. Entry is limited to 150 racers on a first come-first serve basis.
An Unsupported Option is being offered for $25 per racer. This option is for those teams that may not be able to find a support crew. You will be allowed a certain number of bins for your gear that race staff will move from TA to TA for your team. Details on all this will be put out in the racer updates.
Race Minimum:
We are stating it up front this year. We need to have at least 75 racers registered, by July 16th in order for the race to take place. This is also the registration date to be certain to receive race swag. So don't procrastinate too long, or we won't be able to do the race.
Race Affiliation:
This race will be part of the 2012 Checkpoint Tracker Series. It is an "Adventure" Class Race. Teams will be able to earn points in solo, 2 person open, 2 person coed, and 4 person coed categories. We highly encourage racers to check out the series and participate. It is free to register your team and follow your points accumulation. Even if you don't have grand aspirations to attend the championship race, joining the series shows your support and ultimately helps grow the sport of Adventure Racing.
About The Race:
The 2012 Adventure Rage is heading back to Northern Michigan and will be challenging as you would expect. This race comes back for its 10th year as one of the longest running 24hr adventure races in the country. The 2012 course will not disappoint. The Infiterra crew is again teaming up with the River Rats to put on what will likely be the only day long AR in Michigan and the best 24+ hour race in the Midwest for 2012.
Moving back to Northern Michigan gives that big race experience. The best part, however, is the incredible terrain, that was seemingly created for AR. You can count on some of the best paddling around, fun Northern Michigan two tracks and some great navigation with challenging orienteering.
The race is expected to be a 28 hour course, but could still be adjusted by a couple hours either way depending on final course design. We already know it will be over 24 hour though just fit in everything we have planned! Race winners can expect to be racing over 24 hours. As standard per our events, there will be enough optional checkpoints to keep even the top teams pressing while allowing less competitive teams the opportnity to enjoy less of the course and still finished ranked.
You can definitely count on many sections of orienteering along with navigation and route choice throughout the race and the disciplines. You can also expect some great paddling and awesome single and two track mountain biking. This race will be the marquee event of the 2012 Michigan AR scene! You do not want to miss it!

Map & UTM Handout:
Maps and UTM coordiantes will be handed out when your team has completed the entire check in process. The sooner your team arrives and completes check in, the more time you get to spend with your maps.

- The rate per night is $69 per night plus tax for single or double occupancy, $74 for triple occupancy & $79 for quadruple occupancy.
- With two night’s paid, the third night would be free (this allows racers to keep their personal items in the rooms during the race). Stay Friday night, race Saturday night, stay Sunday night for $138, plus tax at two per room.
Trekking / Trail Running / Orienteering:
Expect to be challenged navigationally with some awesome on foot sections. More details coming soon or in racer updates...

Mountain Bike:
Expect some fun single track and a bunch of great Northern Michigan two track track biking. We will do our best to limit the sand, but don't be shocked to see some. More details coming soon or in racer updates...
